PHOENIX (AZFamily) — While some Valley residents woke up to the rumble of thunder and rain showers, the afternoon ahead is expected to be dry. Look for a high of 104 degrees today in Phoenix, which is average for this time of year in the Valley.
Sky Harbor picked up .01 of an inch of rain early Friday morning as a few isolated thunderstorms developed in the early hours. Parts of the East Valley picked up close to a third of an inch of rain. Drier air moving into the state should limit these storms and showers from continuing into the rest of today.
Dry air and building high pressure should keep conditions hot and dry across most of the state for the start of the holiday weekend. Storm chances are pretty limited to far in Eastern Arizona through Saturday. Storm chances climb slightly Mon
