A new mental health team has been established to help residents and first responders affected by the wildfire in Conception Bay North.

The extent of the loss is slowly coming to light as more residents are allowed into the former evacuation zone to see for their own eyes what many already know, but cannot imagine.

A dedicated team, consisting of mental health nurses, social workers and Doorways staff, will be available at travel clinics, schools and mobile sites throughout the region, providing care to individuals and families.

Two trained peer support workers from the U-Turn Drop-in centre in Carbonear will also provide on-site services to first responders.
