Some areas of Michigan's Great Lakes remained dangerous early Friday, Aug. 29, for beach-goers, with waves up to 6 feet and dangerous currents, but conditions are expected to improve for the three-day Labor Day weekend.

" Lake Michigan is still choppy this morning with waves of 3 to 6 feet being reported. Thus, continue to stay dry when waves are high!" The National Weather Service in northern Indiana said on X. "Conditions will improve at Berrien County beaches this morning, followed by La Porte county beaches by the afternoon."

Beach hazard advisories remained in effect early Friday morning, for portions of Lake Michigan and Lake Huron.
