Owen Morris, who last resided in Warren, was recently found not guilty by reason of insanity in the 2018 murder of East Providence resident Dr. Clive Bridgham.

Rhode Island Superior Court Associate Justice Maureen Keough rendered the verdict at the close of the trial on Thursday, Aug. 21.

Morris, now 28 years of age, admitted to stabbing Bridgham to death in his East Providence home on January 18, 2018. The assailant used a diving knife to inflict over 30 wounds.

He was facing a first-degree murder charge. The prosecution was seeking a sentence of life without the possibility of parole.
