With the news still raw that alcohol giant Diageo is closing its Amherstburg bottling plant and moving some operations to the U.S., the union representing workers there vowed Thursday that it will fight to save the facility.
Closing the Amherstburg plant, so Diageo can bottle some Canadian-made Crown Royal whisky in the U.S., will kill 160 local jobs. Many of those employees come from generations of family members who have made a living bottling Crown Royal whisky.
“It’s just heart-wrenching to see this is happening,” Unifor Local 200 president John D’Agnolo told the Star. “You’ve got people with families, how are they going to take care of their
