Summer is now drawing to a close, with the Labour Day long weekend signifying the end of a long, hot season.

Since the origins of the holiday has its roots in the labour rights movement, many people in the region will have the day off work, so there are plenty of events happening to keep everyone busy.

The Red, Hot and Blue (RHB) Rockabilly Weekend festival will be hosting live musical performances all over Brockville from Friday through Sunday, featuring local artists along with activities for the whole family.

Speaking to Brockville council earlier this week, Coun. Nathalie Lavergne, the event’s organizer, said this year’s edition of the Rockabilly Weekend will be the 20th – and the last.

“We’re closing that chapter of the RHB,” she told council on Tuesday.
