GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KREX) - A driver knocked down a light pole after they hit the median while swerving to avoid a light pole early Friday morning.
The Grand Junction Police Department reported the single-vehicle crash happened around 1:50 a.m. at North 16th Street and North Avenue. After ensuring it was safe to remove, officers took the light pole apart and moved it out of the roadway before city crews arrived.
The driver was cited for careless driving, according to GJPD.
"Animals in the roadway are unpredictable. Braking safely is often better than swerving," the police department stated.
