A West Side man is accused of the attempted murder of two police officers after allegedly running into officers while driving an SUV, prompting a police shooting and crash that left seven people hurt including himself early Wednesday in Englewood.
Barry Hayes, 32, was charged with two counts of attempted murder, criminal damage to property, aggravated battery to a peace officer, and leaving the scene of an accident involving injury, police said.
Hayes, of the 4100 block of West Washington Boulevard, was scheduled to appear at the Leighton Criminal Courthouse for a detention hearing Friday afternoon.
