ORONO -- As schools are starting up again around the state... College campuses are also preparing for the year ahead.

The UMaine campus is opened back up to welcome returning, and new, students during Maine Hello Day.

According to move in volunteers, this day allows incoming students to meet new people while getting settled in to their new dorm.

Androscoggin and Cumberland halls were busy in the early morning, with volunteers lending a helping hand to families.

“Well when you’re a new student. You’re really nervous you know. You’re a little excited, but you kind of get the jitters. But having all of these students that have been there before is so helpful and calming. We can tell them a bunch of things," says Margaret McLeod, Alpha Omicron Pi volunteer.
