The man behind a pet grooming tool that exploded in the early 2000s is back with a new product for animals he says is promised to remove loose hair and reduce shedding.

In 2002, David Porter and his then-wife, Angie Porter, founded FURminator pet-grooming company in Fenton. The brand’s deshedding tools saw rapid success and eventually roped in annual sales of $40 million. The Porters sold the company for millions of dollars in 2008.

The two later separated in a contentious divorce and, two years ago, Porter sold their 30,000-square-foot luxury estate in Ladue, complete with five bedrooms, four kitchens, 14 bathrooms, a car showroom, private lake, pub, movie theater and more, for $13 million.
