GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — This week's featured adoptable pets from the Kent County Animal Shelter are two dogs: a gentle giant and a medium-sized dog with plenty of love to give.

The shelter is running a back-to-school special, which means adoptions are only $70 through Saturday.

Watkins is a 66-pound American Staffordshire terrier.

"Some of the bigger pups at KCAS are actually the softest souls — and Watkins is living proof," the shelter said.

The 5-year-old dog is full of smiles. He loves walks, runs, exploration and — naturally — tennis balls. He's even been known to prefer love and attention over treats.

"Watkins is the kind of gentle giant who will steal your heart the moment you meet him," the shelter said.
