The famed Amelia Earhart statue is now back in the possession of the Town of Harbour Grace.

When it was stolen last April many thought it would never be seen again.

However, it was recovered, albeit cut into several pieces, earlier this month in a wooded area near Heart’s Content.

There is an ongoing investigation into the theft, but there are no other details on that front at this time.

Earlier this week the RCMP handed over the recovered parts of the statue to the town.

Town officials say they will be working with the Newfoundland Bronze Foundry, owned by one of the original artists, Morgan MacDonald, to have the statue put back together and reinstalled this fall.
