They expressed immense concern at being disturbed during what looked like a busy day in the mines. I was in a hurry to get the job done. A few welts with the spade would have resolved the issue but I couldn’t bring myself to do it. As I watched, it was obvious they were running to safety but some insisted on carrying their eggs with them. There was that heroic attitude of no one gets left behind. Most gardeners or landscapers would have continued to dig but I decided to take a break to allow them time to find sanctuary. I popped inside for a cup of tea.
