The Paper comes from Greg Daniels ( King of the Hill , The Office ), and it is essentially The Office but at a newspaper — although the only character crossing over is Oscar. It was originally meant to come out weekly, but Peacock decided to drop them all on Sept. 4. They claim it’s because response was very strong but that premiere season will get crowded and its later episodes might get lost in the shuffle. My concern is that it’s because the show is terrible and they’re burying it quickly — but I actually think the truth might be that it gets better toward the end of its run (the 7th episode was written by Alex Edelman), and they think if people can binge it they are less likely to abandon it too early.
