Viking Books, an imprint of Penguin Random House, is publishing “Staying Gold: The Oral History of The Outsiders.” The book’s subtitle is “How S.E. Hinton’s novel and Francis Ford Coppola’s film became cult classics and launched today’s Hollywood icons to superstardom.”

I am pleased to be a co-author of the book alongside Danny O’Connor, founder of the Outsiders House Museum.

Three years in the making, the project was initially pitched to O’Connor. He asked me to partner with him to write the definitive oral history of “The Outsiders.”
