SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - Springfield Police Officers arrested a South Hadley man after recovering an illegal large capacity firearm and discovering he had two outstanding arrest warrants and a suspended license.

In a news release from the Springfield Police Department, at around 5:55 p.m. on Wednesday, officers observed a vehicle in the area of Maple Street and State Street that had its insurance revoked. A traffic stop was conducted and police discovered that the driver, 32-year-old Justin Alvarez of South Hadley, had a suspended license.

A search of the vehicle revealed an illegal firearm, loaded with 11 rounds of ammunition and capable of holding 15 rounds.
