Consumer, environmental, and low-income advocates are calling for action as BGE prepares to significantly increases electricity rates on Marylanders beginning Sept. 1.
Costs are estimated to increase for the average BGE ratepayer by $16 per month, according to the Maryland Office of the People’s Counsel .
The rate increase stems from the capacity auction held last year by PJM Interconnection, the regional electricity grid manager.
