Gov. Wes Moore (D-MD) said he would “absolutely welcome” federal support to help lower crime in Baltimore after pushing back on President Donald Trump ’s comments about the city’s high crime rates.

“I would absolutely welcome federal support, but I also know that federal support is going to be necessary and required,” Moore said on Fox News’s the Will Cain Show on Thursday.

Moore’s comments came after a back-and-forth between him and Trump regarding Baltimore’s crime rate. When Trump deployed federal troops in Washington, D.C. , he also highlighted crime in Baltimore.
