Just in time for the fall semester, Niche has compiled a list of the most liberal colleges in the United States. American University in Washington, D.C., claimed the No. 1 spot, although Massachusetts has more entries than any other state in the top 25.
The seven schools representing Massachusetts in the top 25 are Boston University (No. 8), Mount Holyoke College (No. 12), Smith College (No. 16), Wellesley College (No. 18), Simmons University (No. 21), Clark University (No. 22) and Northeastern University (No. 25).
Only one other New England school appears on the list; the University of Vermont in Burlington claimed the No. 2 spot. Other states with multiple entries in the top 25 include New York, Oregon, Ohio and Virginia, as well as Washington, D.C.
