MADISON, Wis. -- It appears that the Badgers dodged the worst of it Thursday night. Quarterback Billy Edwards Jr. reportedly sprained his knee against Miami (Ohio), a likely best-case scenario after he left the game with a non-contact injury.
According to ESPN's Pete Thamel , Edwards had an MRI Friday that came back clean and he is week-to-week. His teammates stepped up in his absence to beat Miami, 17-0.
Edwards transferred to Wisconsin from Maryland earlier this year, marking the third time that Badgers head coach Luke Fickell has brought in a transfer quarterback to be his Week 1 starter.
Badger fans held their collective breaths after Edwards left Thursday's game. His injury conjured up bad memories of the last two seasons when starting quarterbacks Tanner Mordecai and Tyler Van Dy
