LOUISVILLE, Ky. — There are nearly 200 certified non-public schools in Kentucky, according to the state Board of Education, a large portion of which fall under the leadership of the Archdiocese of Louisville.

Following Wednesday's deadly shooting at a Catholic church in Minneapolis, all eyes are focused on safety.

“It's just senseless and sad, and it's every parent's worst nightmare,” said Amy Nall, superintendent of Catholic schools for the Archdiocese of Louisville.

Her school system includes roughly 18,000 students at 48 schools across seven counties.

Nall said each campus has a safety plan in place that is in line with the best practices outlined by the Kentucky Center for School Safety . This includes outside doors remaining locked, visitors needing to be buzzed in and class
