A 1-year-old girl died after being found in a swimming pool at a Plantation home, police and fire rescue officials said.

Officers and Plantation Fire Rescue were called to a home on Wednesday on Northwest 18th Street after someone found her in the pool and removed her, said Lt. Aston Bright, a spokesperson for the fire department.

The police department first gave her medical treatment and were relieved when Plantation Fire Rescue arrived, Officer Chavez Grant, a spokesperson for the police department, said.

Firefighters started to perform CPR, and she was in critical condition when they took her to the hospital, Bright said.

The girl was pronounced dead at Broward Health Medical Center, Grant said. Their investigation is ongoing.
