There is certainly plenty for Head Coach Kurt Hines and the Coronado Islanders to be happy about from their 25-7 week one victory over Hilltop High School.

“It’s always [nice] to take care of business and get a win in week one,” said Hines. “Our offense made some big plays when they needed to, and our defense flew around the ball all evening, making plays.”

In what would ultimately be a mixed bag of a night on offense, the Islanders’ passing attack got things started early. With 2:26 to play in the first quarter, first-year signal caller Jack O’Sullivan would connect with sophomore wideout Reese Pagon for a 37-yard score down the near sideline. After a successful two-point conversion, Coronado found themselves ahead 8-0.
