Nicknamed “The Admiral” for his U.S. Navy service, Robinson played for the San Antonio Spurs in the NBA from 1989 to 2003.
Standing at 7-foot-1 with broad shoulders, he was a physically dominant center, averaging 21.1 points, 10.6 rebounds, 3.0 blocks and 2.5 assists per game over 987 games.
Robinson’s career highlights include 10-time NBA All-Star selections, winning the 1995 NBA MVP award and securing two NBA championships in 1999 and 2003. He also earned the NBA Rookie of the Year in 1990 and the Defensive Player of the Year in 1992, leading the league in blocks that year.
Robinson’s scoring prowess was evident when he dropped a franchise-record 71 points against the Los Angeles Clippers in 1994, making him one of only t
