CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO) - An abandoned building is causing major safety concerns on Cleveland’s east side.
Community activists, like Katharine McDonald, have been fighting for years to get the eyesore taken care of.
“This is about the safety. Safety is my concern,” says McDonald.
She has been a member of the Slavic Village Block Club for over 20 years.
However, for the past two years, she has had major concerns about the former Corlett Movers Building on E 55th Street.
“I have noticed several times scrappers have been in and out of here. I see them cutting wires. We notice that they have been in and out with shopping carts down here,” says McDonald."
If you look inside the building, you can see graffiti on the walls, gas cans lying around, and trash everywhere.
