As Tulsa’s Wave Park reopens after an investigation into a drowning, officials continue to stress that the white water recreational flume should only be used with a watercraft and a life preserver.

"We strongly urge all users to arrive with appropriate safety gear and to follow all posted rules and regulations," River Parks Authority officials said. "These guidelines are not only essential, they are enforceable by law and apply both within the wave feature and throughout the surrounding area."

The Wave Park was closed after 16-year-old Jawaun Jordan drowned Aug. 16 in Zink Lake. Rescue crews found Jordan after searching the area near the pedestrian bridge, where he was last seen. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
