GAINESVILLE, Fla. (WCJB) - The Gainesville High School teacher removed from her classroom over the handling of a controversial superlative will meet with the district’s human resources department next Thursday.
History teacher Lauren Watts is on leave after the parent of a student claimed her son was voted “Most Likely to be Dictator” in 2023.
Watts is represented by lawyers who work with the teachers’ union.

Monday, dozens of students at Gainesville High participated in a walkout in support of Watts. The students are calling for her to be allowed to return to the classroom.
The state’s education commissioner has called for her teaching certificate to be revoked.
