SARASOTA, Fla. (WWSB) - A man wanted in a 24-year-old sexual battery case in Sarasota has been arrested in Tennessee, the Sarasota Police Department said Friday.

Eleazar Briones-Vega, 50, is being held at the Jefferson County Detention Center in Tennessee and is awaiting extradition to Florida.

According to a probable cause affidavit, in April 2006, Sarasota police were called to investigate a sexual battery on a child in an apartment on Hillview Street.

A 12-year-old girl told police Briones-Vega had been molesting her for three years, starting with touching when she was 10, progressing too sexual intercourse when she was 11.

The affidavit says the girl’s father had confronted Briones-Vega, who confessed to the father that he had had sex with the girl.
