ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. —
The City of Albuquerque has officially renamed a pavilion in honor of a fallen veteran.
The pavilion, formerly known as Valley Gardens Park, is being renamed in honor of Delano Garcia, a veteran, legislator, and lifelong public servant.
Garcia, who was widely admired as compassionate, principled, and a community-driven leader, was born and raised in Las Vegas, NM, served in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam era where he earned several military decorations including the Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, and Air Force Commendation Medal, and Air Force Outstanding Unit Award.
Garcia also served two terms in the New Mexico House of Representatives, representing District 12, and sponsored legislation supporting children's services, health care, s
