MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (WV News) — The Morgantown Fire Marshal’s Office has been selected to attend an Accelerant Detection Canine Course by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives’ (ATF), a nationally recognized program that trains canine-handler teams to detect fire accelerants.
The six-week course begins Sept. 29 in Front Royal, Virginia, and will provide the department with an ATF-certified accelerant detection canine to aid in fire investigations.
Capt. Jason Quinn, Morgantown’s fire marshal, said the program will enhance the city’s ability to investigate suspicious fires.
