Randy Moffitt, a pitcher for the San Francisco Giants, Houston Astros and Toronto Blue Jays over 12 major league seasons, died Thursday after an extended illness according to the Associated Press . He was 76.
Moffitt went 35-46 with a 3.68 ERA in 459 games — all but one in relief — from 1972-81 for the Giants, who drafted him in the first round (18th overall) in 1970.
Former Mets Pitcher Passes Away
"The Giants are deeply saddened to learn of the passing of former San Francisco Giants pitcher Randy Moffitt," the team wrote in a social media post Friday. "We extend our deepest condolences to the Moffitt family."
The Astros signed Moffitt to a one-year contract in February 1982, and he went 2-4 with a 3.02 ERA in 30 games for Houston.
