Belleville’s professional firefighters are getting four years of raises and increased benefits as part of the new contract ratified by city council.

The city on Friday announced in a news release the four-year deal with the Belleville Professional Fire Fighters Association (BPFFA) Local 497.

“This agreement reflects the shared commitment of both parties to supporting the important work of Belleville firefighters while ensuring the continued delivery of high-quality emergency services to the community,” the release states.

The wage increases begin with 4.3 per cent raise retroactive to Jan. 1, 2024. That’s followed, retroactively to Jan. 1, 2025, by an increase of three per cent.

Wages will increase by 3.2 per cent and 3.5 per cent on Jan. 1 of 2026 and 2027 respectively.
