FRANKLIN, Tenn. (WKRN) — The City of Franklin is working with the community to preserve its history.
City leaders just held a meeting with the public to gather ideas on how to do so.
Honoring growth but also acknowledging the past is the goal of the preservation team in Franklin. As they make a plan for the next several years, they want to tell the full story of the city.
One way residents suggested was telling more of the African-American and Native American history present throughout Franklin. Another suggestion was diving deeper into the Civil War history of Franklin by identifying more homes, structures and land with significant meaning.
City leaders said when they're formulating these plans, sometimes residents are the ones with the best ideas.
