LEXINGTON, Ky. — A Lexington mom is using one of her toughest experiences—having a newborn—as a sweet way to help other moms with the same challenge.
Mercedes Eckman, a former elementary school teacher, said she was looking for a post-pandemic side job. Now, spends her mornings inside a boutique kitchen off South Broadway in Lexington, designed by herself and with women like herself in mind, called the Leaky Momma.
Eckman said she has had lots of support along the way. “My dad is a huge help to me. He’s always helped me. He bags a lot of the cookies, he does the dishes, and makes my boxes,” Eckman said.
