LUFKIN, Texas (KTRE) - The Lufkin Fire Department has announced 24 firefighters have successfully completed advanced hazardous materials training.
The training, which took place over 80 hours, will further strengthen the department’s ability to respond to a wide range of emergencies across the region, the department said in a press release.
Firefighters trained in the use of special protective suits and practiced identifying and stopping liquid leaks from pipes and metal drum containers. They also trained on decontamination procedures.
