Earlier this week, Fulton County became the first in western Kentucky to issue a burn ban during the extremely dry August weather.

Fulton County Judge-executive Jim Martin issued the ban on Monday until the county receives sufficient rainfall to ease the dangerous conditions.

In Kentucky, burn bans generally prohibit:

- Burning of forest, grass, crops and woodlands

- Burning leaves or debris.

- Campfires, bonfires and warming fires.

- Open pit cooking and charcoal grilling.

- Use of fireworks and welding may also be prohibited.

Across Kentucky, 25 counties are currently under burn bans.
