CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WOWK) — West Virginia Powerball players may want to check in between their couch cushions and car seats. A Powerball ticket worth $1 million that was bought in the Mountain State still remains unclaimed, according to a West Virginia Lottery news release.

As the Powerball jackpot surpassed $1 billion for the upcoming drawing on Saturday, the news release encourages players to not forget about an unclaimed million-dollar ticket drawn back in March.

"Check tickets and old hiding spots, as there still remains an unclaimed $1 million dollar winner in West Virginia from a draw in mid-March" it said.

The ticket was purchased at a Par Mar in Hurricane. The fast-approaching deadline to collect the winnings is Sep. 8.
