TUCSON, Ariz. (13 News) - A growing program is saving southern Arizona families money on college.
High school students in Vail Unified School District are completing their first week of classes at Pima Community College.
That’s made possible through Vail’s Early College program , where kids earn college credit for free -- while still in high school.
Raylee May, the program director and a first generation college student herself, said she understands the importance of college.
“For me it opened up doors,” said May. “It prevented a cycle of poverty and struggle for those jobs that could be easily laid off from. It helped me to build a career.”
