A fire broke out early Friday morning at Yosemite Falls Café in north Fresno, forcing the restaurant to close indefinitely, the Fresno Fire Department said in a statement.
Around 6:40 a.m., Fresno firefighters responded to the 5100 block of North Blackstone Avenue after multiple callers reported smoke coming from the building, authorities said.
Crews found a kitchen fire that had spread into the ducting and attic spaces of the restaurant. Thirty-one firefighters worked to contain the blaze.
The restaurant was not open at the time, and all employees inside were able to evacuate safely, officials said.
Due to the extent of the damage, the restaurant will remain closed for an undetermined period.
