PALESTINE, Texas (KTRE) - The Nacogdoches Dragons took a big road win over Palestine, 34-17, on Thursday.
Both teams were scoreless in the first quarter. Palestine scored first with a short pass from Ashton Cook to C.J. Jones to put the Wildcats up 7-0.
Nacogdoches tied the score on the play of the game when R.J. Whitaker took a reverse handoff and met a pile on the opposite sideline. He somehow emerged from the pile untackled and broke loose for a long touchdown.
Nacogdoches outscored Palestine 27-10 in the second half.
Nacogdoches (1-0) hosts Lufkin in Week 2. Palestine (0-1) will travel to Jasper.
