Coroner: Mount Vernon double murderer dies by suicide in prison

The Mount Vernon, Indiana, man convicted of the 2021 double murder of John and Elizabeth Hall died by suicide at the Indiana prison where he was serving a 170-year sentence, officials said.

Austin Kusturin, 32, was pronounced dead Aug. 20 while serving his sentence at the Wabash Valley Correctional Facility, according to Sullivan County Coroner Christy McCammon.

McCammon declined to disclose additional information concerning Kusturin's death or the findings of an autopsy, though she did confirm his death had been ruled a suicide.
