BUFFALO, N.Y. — A Buffalo-based construction company has stepped in to support local student-athletes by donating new safety gear to the Bishop Timon-St. Jude High School football program.

Draghi Burgos Construction presented 75 Guardian Caps to the South Buffalo school on Aug. 19, equipping players with padded helmet covers that are designed to reduce impact forces during practices and games. The donation comes just ahead of the Tigers prepare to start another football season.

"I saw a need for better player safety equipment, and I know a lot of schools don’t have the budget for things like this," Matthew Farley, vice president at Draghi Burgos Construction, said in a statement.
