MCLEAN COUNTY, Ill. (WMBD) -- A celebration erupted as the ribbon was cut to open the doors of the new McLean County Animal Services Building, now in Shirley, on Friday morning.

After two floods in their old building, in 2021 and 2023, a new building was not only a want, but a desperate need. The new shelter will allow any animals that come in to be able to stay until they find their forever home, no matter how long it takes.

"If a dog or cat comes into this facility needing a home and it doesn't have any sort of dangerous behavioral issues or advanced illnesses, they're safe. They're going to be here. They're going to be taken care of," said Matt Fraker, a medicine board member for McLean County Animal Services.
