QUINCY (WGEM) - The city of Quincy released a statement on Friday regarding the use of Flock cameras.

The Quincy Police Department is aware of an investigation at the state level into use of Flock Safety license plate reading cameras. In June of 2023, the Quincy City Council approved the purchase and use of this technology. The QPD is one of more than 4800 agencies in 49 states that have adopted this public safety tool.

In its first year of operation in Quincy, the Flock system supported more than 1,000 investigations, including recovering stolen property, solving hit-and-runs, providing evidence in arson investigations and safely recovering five children in Minnesota who had been abducted in Quincy.
