DIMONDALE, Mich. (WILX) - “We saw the story where Mikey 23 was broken into, and my husband had said then, ‘you know, he should donate some tools.’ And he passed. So I’m following up with what he wanted,” said Dawn Hall of Dimondale.

She’s carrying out her husband’s last wishes. Dennis Hall saw our previous coverage this summer about a break-in and theft of valuable tools from the Mikey 23 Foundation.

Mikey 23 teaches kids how to renovate old homes as a way to stay off the streets and out of crime. It was founded in honor of Mikey McKissic, a young Lansing man killed by gun violence.

The nonprofit was established by Mikey’s father, Michael, as a way to commemorate Mikey’s life and legacy.
