TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO-WAWV) --The Veterans Memorial Museum of Terre Haute has opened a special room dedicated to the Vietnam War. Hundreds of keepsakes, uniforms, weapons and more are found in the room.

Many of the items have unique stories, including a ancient rice pot that was brought to the U.S. by Vietnam veteran Dave Runyan. He was in Vietnam in the early 1970's and toted the rice pot on his back for a number of days. At one point a U.S. Cobra gunship saw the rice pot from the air and fired a warning shot, thinking it was being carried by the enemy. Luckily for Runyan, a radio message from Runyan's group to the helicopter prevented any more air strikes.
