From the moment she stepped onto the scene as Brenda on 227, Regina King has been in our hearts.
She gave little Black girls the rare gift of seeing themselves on television, confident, funny, smart and full of possibility. In the 1990s, she carried us through an era of unforgettable cinema, starring in classics like Boyz n the Hood, Poetic Justice, Friday, A Thin Line Between Love and Hate, Jerry Maguire and How Stella Got Her Groove Back. Each role left an imprint, reminding us that Black women are not only worthy of the spotlight…we are the spotlight.
Last night at Soho House New York City, an intimate dinner for King – a sister, a friend, a queen—took place in honor of her new film Caught Stealing. And boy, was there a celebration. King reconnected with friends like Vivica A. Fox, Ti
