More than a half-dozen patrol cars and a motorcycle officer are on the scene at the end of a police chase on Friday afternoon on Interstate 15 south near the interchange with state Route 163.

The chase began after 4:30 p.m., with law enforcement in pursuit of the suspects in the city of San Diego. Two crashed vehicles, a white car and a black SUV, are visible at the scene.

At least one person was hurt in the crash; an ambulance arrived quickly at the crash site, and paramedics loaded one person onto a stretcher and took them to the hospital.

It's not yet known why police instigated the chase. What appeared to be two plainclothes officers wearing tactical vests were spotted on the roadside, talking with a pair of officers.
