Arizona Democrats try to limit outside spending in primary races

Arizona Democrats are promoting a policy to dissuade, if not punish, members of the party who benefit from anonymous outside spending in their primary races.

The idea won strong approval in June when Democrats supported the creation of a "People's Primary" policy that would aim to bar, "to the greatest extent possible," independent expenditures in Democratic primary elections.
