CLEVELAND, Ohio — The paid leaves of Guardians pitchers Emmanuel Clase and Luis Ortiz are likely to be extended past Sunday’s deadline as the investigation into their connection with gambling continues.

Although no decision on the length of the extension has been reached — MLB and the MLB Players Association were still negotiating as of Friday — it’s possible it could be extended into the offseason.

The regular season ends Sept. 28.
